Our singing offers comfort and relaxation, a connection with community and a feeling of support that extends to family and caregivers. We’re trained to be sensitive to the needs of those present, and to respond accordingly.
We deliver our service without charge. Our singers are all volunteers and we fund our expenses through donations, grants and fundraising events. The Whakaahuru Singers are grateful to, MusicHelps Āwhina Puoro, Community Organisation Grants Scheme (COGS) and the Leonard Monk Charitable Trust for their generous support since 2020.
Here is a promotional video including one of our favourite songs, May the Soft Light. Thanks to Soulhaven Creative Productions for creating the video and to Te Omanga Hospice and Te Hopai Rest Home And Hospital for their spoken contributions.
"...I appreciated their soft, beautiful harmonies
and the love that shone through their singing..."
